Albannach

Albannach (Gaelic for "Scottish" or "Of Scotland") is a small kennel located at Tokomaru, which is nestled in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges in the Horowhenua region of New Zealand.

 

We are a family team that started out breeding Scotties in 2021 with the help of our friend and mentor Judy Sargent from JUSCOT kennels, after owning at least one of the breed for the last 30 years.

 

Our motivation to breed was the frustration of having to wait years to get a puppy once our previous beloved dogs, Nisea and Inverness passed on to doggie heaven. We found ourselves in a position to have a litter and help others share the joy of owning a Scottie. We love the character and independence of these giants trapped in little furry bodies.

 

We are registered with DogsNZ and show some of our dogs.

 

Currently there are four dogs in our Clan, with a fifth to arrive soon:

• JUSCOT Skye Of Tokomaru, aka Skye - The Clan Matriarch and mother to Argyle and Monteith - she takes being a bitch as a job description. She loves her food a bit too much and activity not enough, unless it is a session of tug-of-war with her favourite toy: a knot rope. 

• CH JUSCOT Queen of Hearts, aka Isla - Our current breeding bitch and show dog soon. Isla is your quintessential Scottie: obedience is not her forte, hunting is. When that tail starts to wriggle, you know she is onto something. She is very independent but loves cuddles on her terms. 

• CH JUSCOT Duke of Argyle, aka Argyle or The Duke - our primary show dog Diva and part time clown. He thinks he is the boss until the girls try to bite his head off. It's hard to be a male and keep everything under control when no-one listens to you. 

• JUSCOT Knight of Snowdoun, aka Monteith - Our special needs dog - he was born with a cleft palate and underwent surgery to correct when he was three months old.  He's almost blind, autistic and epileptic with an attitude a mile wide and we love him to bits.

• Jamajka SLONCE ALASKI, aka Nellie - she is currently getting ready to come to New Zealand all the way from Poland through France. She has a jaw-dropping pedigree of European, Baltic states and Russian champions. The miss is also very determined, in true Scottie style, and at the same time affectionate.
