Judy Sargent

Albannach would not exist without the help of Judy Sargent. This page is dedicated to you Judy.

Anyone who has ever tried to get a Scottie in New Zealand will tell you of the hardship to find a good breeder and when you finally find someone who knows of a breeder, the answer is always: “Have you tried Judy Sargent?”.

We made that call and when we got to meet Judy at her Juscot kennels in the Waikato, we found a lovely lady, well maintained kennels and amazing dogs, just the way you picture the perfect Scottie. YOU see the cute little puppy but what you get is a healthy dog of well selected parents by a very competent and ethical breeder who is very low key and has turned into a source of admiration to us over the years.

See, Judy has fallen in love with the breed some 20 years ago and has dedicated a big part of her life at maintaining the highest standards of the breed. This has led her to work with the greats of the Scottie World and her name is now as worldwide known as theirs. When you get a Juscot puppy, it comes with a mind-blowing pedigree! Judy also shows her dogs and there have been many Juscot champions over the years. Their offspring are spread across the globe, and they keep winning.

We had three Scotties from Juscot. When we considered having a litter with our girl Skye, we approached Judy again; she provided her champion Juscot Johnny Cash for the mating and helped us throughout the entire journey. Because it is a journey. It is only when you get yourself into it that you realise what goes into breeding and it is not for the faint-hearted, but we were lucky to have an extraordinary mentor guiding us all the way. This is when you realise what a “well of knowledge” and a great breeder truly is.

“Judy, I could listen to you talking about Scotties and your experiences for days. Showing Argyle is my way to thank you for all you’ve done for the breed, for your help to us and to honour the legacy of your name, as well as Juscot, for as long as possible. I loved the breed; you made me love it even more. Merci mon amie.”
